When and where does the contest take place?

The Black Jar contest finals will take place June 2, 2024, at the Salvage Station in Asheville, NC.

When is the deadline to enter honey for this year's contest?

Honey shipments MUST BE postmarked by the deadline: March 1, 2024.

What airports can I fly into if I would like to attend The Black Jar?

There are several airports in our region. The three we suggest are: Asheville Regional (15.7 miles to Renaissance AVL Hotel), Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (78.4 miles to Renaissance AVL Hotel), and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (119 miles to Renaissance AVL Hotel).

Does my entry have to be from this season’s harvest?

No. It can be from any year or season.

Can I enter honey from outside of the U.S.?

Yes. The Black Jar is an international contest and we accept honey from bees from all over the world.

Can I enter more than once?

Yes. Many beekeepers produce seasonal varietals that differ in taste and choose to enter more than one variety. Each variety requires a separate entry/fee.
