Check out the event calendar for listed volunteer days with Project Genesis, and let us know what date(s) you would like to join us. Center for Honeybee Research is an all-volunteer organization. We rely on our volunteers to help us maintain our hives, collect data, help us raise funds, and keep the organization flowing and growing. In addition to the volunteer positions listed on this page, we welcome volunteers who want to help the Center continue to do great things for honeybees.
Project Genesis is an all-volunteer citizen-science project conducted throughout the beekeeping season. Data-collection days alternate between Saturday and Sunday every other week, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. You can check our events calendar for this year’s Data Days.
Center for Honeybee Research has over 20 honeybee colonies situated in two equal ‘yards’ (Upper and Lower apriaries). Inspections follow an established protocol with data sheets completed by teams of 2-3 volunteers.
Attendance is open to the community. Participation in a data collection day does not obligate the attendee to commit to future dates, however, we do have a punchcard with a number of appreciation gifts for those who attend regularly. We encourage the community to come out and participate. Please RSVP with our Project Coordinator via the form below, so that we can include you when planning the data collection teams.
